Butterflies of Northern Argentina
Diversity of Life & Colour
15 days / 14 nights
Two weeks butterfliying the tropical north of Argentina.
Expect: 300-400 species, good accommodation, easy to moderate terrain, some long drives, mild to hot climate. Departures anytime from January to December. Northern Argentina’s varied landscapes are home to a huge diversity of butterflies. Recent surveys found over 600 species only around Iguazú forest, exceeding the total of the entire European continent. Our tour visits this and other subtropical butterfly paradises: Andean grasslands, cloudforests, Chaco woodlands and grassy savannas. |

Throughout the trip we look for the graceful Swallowtails and Cattlehearts and numerous Pierids (Whites, Yellows and Oranges). Also colorful Banners, Beauties, Peacocks, Crescents, Eighty-eights, Purples, Leafwings, Clearwings and Daggerwings as well as other Nymphalids such as the noisy Crackers, and of course the Morphos and Owls. Many Satyrs and the small Skippers will provide challenging identification, along with the mimetic Hairstreaks and brilliant Metalmarks. Moths and Hawk Moths will entertain our nights in front of the lights. |
